Avast Web Shield actively tests information moving on the internet and blocks possible threats in real-time. It guards against ransomware which locks your data and requires payment to unlock them and Trojans disguised as legitimate software, but install malware into your device. Web shield detects phishing sites that try to steal your personal data.
Avira offers a variety of settings to modify the way avast Web shield works. You can, for instance, change the sensitivity setting, which controls the aggressiveness that avast Web Shield scans your data whenever you connect to the internet. You can also enable or disable HTTPS scanning scan, script scanning, and stop botnet attacks. You can also create an exclusion list in order to avoid certain programs being recognized by web shield.
If avast finds malware or an unwelcome program on your system, avast will attempt to repair the file first. If the file can’t be repaired, it will be moved to Quarantine. You will also be notified. You can also choose a default action for avast to take if the virus is detected.
If a website or an app which you have verified to be safe is blocked by avast You can add it to the exceptions list so that it won’t be blocked again. This can be done by selecting the Real-Time Shields tab and then selecting the Web Shield or File Shield option in the list. The Avast Security app and Avast One app have slightly different methods for adding websites or apps to the exceptions lists.
